Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, and butter until crumbly. Press mixture evenly into the prepared pan to form the crust.
- Bake crust for 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sweetened condensed milk and corn syrup. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and turns golden (about 10 minutes).
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and salt. Pour evenly over baked crust and spread gently.
- Sprinkle chopped walnuts evenly over the toffee layer.
- Return to oven and bake for another 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot surface. Let sit for 2–3 minutes to melt, then spread evenly.
- Cool completely at room temperature or refrigerate until firm. Cut into bars and serve.
Notes
- Swap walnuts with pecans, almonds, or omit for a nut-free version.
- Use dark chocolate chips for a less sweet alternative.
- Top with sea salt flakes for sweet-salty contrast.
- Drizzle cooled bars with white chocolate for decoration.
- Freeze in layers separated by parchment for up to 2 months.
