- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in eggs and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients to form a dough.
- Divide dough into two portions. Mix cocoa powder into one half to make chocolate dough.
- Take small scoops of each dough and twist together gently to form marbled balls.
- Place on baking sheets and press chocolate chips (and white chocolate chips if using) into tops.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set and centers are slightly soft.
- Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- Chill dough for 15–30 minutes for better shape and flavor.
- Add espresso powder for mocha flavor or mint extract for a twist.
- Mix in nuts for added crunch.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze up to 3 months.
