- 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 24 oz (3 packages) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 1/3 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/2 cup sour cream or heavy cream
- 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Line the bottom of a springform pan with parchment paper.
- Mix chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter in a bowl. Press into the bottom of the pan to form a crust.
- Bake crust for 10 minutes. Remove and let cool.
- In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Stir in orange zest, orange juice, sour cream (or heavy cream), vanilla extract, and salt.
- Fold in the melted chocolate until fully combined.
- Pour the filling over the cooled crust and smooth the top.
- Bake for 55–65 minutes, until edges are set but the center jiggles slightly.
- Turn off oven, leave door ajar, and let cheesecake cool inside for 1 hour.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
Notes
- Use dark chocolate for a richer taste.
- Top with candied orange peel or chocolate shavings for decoration.
- Add orange liqueur for an adult twist.
- Make mini versions in a muffin tin for individual servings.
- Use a water bath or a pan of water below the cheesecake to reduce cracking.
