- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- For the Cream Cheese Filling:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and creamy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until combined. Fold in chocolate chips. Chill dough for 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1/2 tsp vanilla until smooth. Chill for 15–20 minutes for easier handling.
- Scoop 1.5 tablespoons of cookie dough and flatten it. Add 1 teaspoon of cream cheese filling in the center, then top with another flattened piece of dough. Seal edges well to enclose the filling.
- Place stuffed cookie dough balls onto prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 11–13 minutes or until edges are golden and centers are just set. Do not overbake.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Chilling both the cookie dough and cream cheese filling helps with easier shaping and prevents spreading.
- Use a cookie scoop for even portioning.
- Cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days or frozen for longer storage.
- Let cookies cool slightly before serving for best gooey texture.
