Description

A classic homemade lasagna with layers of rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and melted cheese, baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a pan, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese and egg.
  • In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce, followed by lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, and shredded mozzarella. Repeat layers.
  • Finish with a layer of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let sit for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley.

Notes

  • For extra cheesiness, add more mozzarella or use a mix of cheeses.
  • You can substitute ground beef with turkey or make it vegetarian by using mushrooms.
  • Let the lasagna rest before slicing to prevent it from falling apart.
