A classic homemade lasagna with layers of rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and melted cheese, baked to perfection.

- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked
- 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a pan, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese and egg.
- In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce, followed by lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, and shredded mozzarella. Repeat layers.
- Finish with a layer of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let sit for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley.
Notes
- For extra cheesiness, add more mozzarella or use a mix of cheeses.
- You can substitute ground beef with turkey or make it vegetarian by using mushrooms.
- Let the lasagna rest before slicing to prevent it from falling apart.
