Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Garlic Butter Topping (optional):
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder or 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, instant yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Stir and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled.
  3. Mix shredded mozzarella with minced garlic or herbs if desired.
  4. Divide dough into 10–12 equal portions. Flatten each piece, place cheese in the center, and pinch to seal into a ball.
  5. Place buns on a parchment-lined baking tray. Cover and let rise again for 20–30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Mix melted butter, garlic, and Italian seasoning for the topping.
  7. Brush buns with garlic butter, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, and bake for 18–20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm.
