A fun and easy twist on traditional lasagna, using bow tie pasta and a rich, cheesy meat sauce for a comforting meal.

- 12 oz bow tie pasta (farfalle)
- 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta:
- Boil bow tie pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the Meat Sauce:
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef or sausage over medium heat until browned.
- Add onion and garlic, cooking until softened. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Make the Ricotta Mixture:
- In a small bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
- Assemble the Dish:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the cooked pasta.
- Spread half of the meat sauce over the pasta, followed by half of the ricotta mixture.
- Repeat layers and top with mozzarella cheese and remaining Parmesan cheese.
- Bake and Serve:
- Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

- For a spicier version, use spicy Italian sausage.
- You can substitute cottage cheese for ricotta if preferred.
