Description

Blackberry Cream Cheese Danish is a buttery, flaky pastry filled with sweetened cream cheese and juicy blackberries, baked until golden brown. Made with store-bought puff pastry, it’s a quick and elegant treat ideal for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blackberries
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
  • 1 tsp lemon zest (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Unroll puff pastry sheets and cut into squares. Lightly score a smaller square within each piece without cutting through.
  4. Spoon a dollop of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each square.
  5. Top with a few blackberries and a sprinkle of lemon zest, if using.
  6. Fold edges slightly or leave open-faced.
  7. Brush the edges with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Use raspberries or blueberries as an alternative to blackberries.
  • Add a lemon glaze or chopped nuts for variation.
  • Store at room temperature for 1 day or refrigerate up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven to maintain crispness.
  • Don’t overfill to prevent leaking.
