Black Forest Cheesecake is a rich, decadent dessert that combines the flavors of chocolate, cherries, and creamy cheesecake. Inspired by the classic Black Forest cake, this indulgent treat features layers of chocolate cookie crust, velvety chocolate cheesecake, and cherry topping.

- 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs (such as Oreos)
- 4 tbsp butter, melted
- 24 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling or homemade cherry topping
- Whipped cream (optional for garnish)
- Shaved chocolate (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
- Mix chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter. Press into the bottom of a springform pan. Bake for 10 minutes, then cool completely.
- Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing just until incorporated.
- Mix in sour cream, vanilla extract, and melted chocolate until smooth.
- Pour the filling over the crust and smooth the top.
- Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly.
- Turn off oven, crack the door, and allow cheesecake to cool gradually for 1 hour. Then chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Top chilled cheesecake with cherry pie filling. Garnish with whipped cream and chocolate shavings if desired before serving.
Notes
- Use dark chocolate for a more intense flavor.
- Substitute raspberry or strawberry topping if preferred.
- Add cherry liqueur to the filling for an adult twist.
- Use a water bath to minimize cracking.
- For gluten-free, use certified gluten-free cookies in the crust.
