- 1 pound fresh or thawed scallops
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Pat scallops dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Arrange scallops in a single layer in the prepared dish.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Stir in lemon juice and drizzle the mixture over the scallops.
- In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan, salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Sprinkle breadcrumb mixture evenly over the scallops.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until scallops are opaque and topping is golden brown.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use panko for extra crispiness or regular breadcrumbs for a finer texture.
- Do not overbake scallops, as they can become rubbery.
- Prepare ahead by assembling and refrigerating until ready to bake.
- Remove the small side muscle from scallops if still attached.
