Description

Baked Scallops are tender, buttery, and topped with a golden, garlicky breadcrumb crust. This quick and elegant seafood dish is perfect for a light main course or sophisticated appetizer.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound fresh or thawed scallops
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Pat scallops dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. Arrange scallops in a single layer in the prepared dish.
  4. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  5. Stir in lemon juice and drizzle the mixture over the scallops.
  6. In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  7. Sprinkle breadcrumb mixture evenly over the scallops.
  8. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until scallops are opaque and topping is golden brown.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use panko for extra crispiness or regular breadcrumbs for a finer texture.
  • Do not overbake scallops, as they can become rubbery.
  • Prepare ahead by assembling and refrigerating until ready to bake.
  • Remove the small side muscle from scallops if still attached.
  • Pair with rice, pasta, or salad for a complete meal.
