Description

Elegant and easy, these Baked Pears with Blue Cheese make a stunning appetizer or light dessert. With the perfect balance of sweet and savory, this simple recipe is perfect for holidays, dinner parties, or when you want an impressive yet effortless dish!

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe but firm pears (like Bosc or Anjou)

  • 4 oz blue cheese, crumbled

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter

  • Fresh thyme leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Slice the pears in half lengthwise and carefully scoop out the seeds with a spoon or melon baller to create a small cavity.

  3. Place the pear halves, cut side up, in a baking dish.

  4. Brush the pears lightly with olive oil or melted butter.

  5. Fill the center of each pear with crumbled blue cheese.

  6. Drizzle a little honey over the pears and sprinkle with chopped nuts.

  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the pears are tender but still hold their shape, and the cheese is melted.

  8. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • Choose slightly firm pears to prevent them from becoming too mushy while baking.

  • For a different flavor, try swapping blue cheese with goat cheese or gorgonzola.

  • Serve warm or at room temperature for best flavor.
