Scale
- 2 racks baby back pork ribs (about 4 lbs)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with foil.
- Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs for better texture.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne (if using).
- Rub the spice mix all over the ribs on both sides. Place ribs on the foil-lined baking sheet and cover tightly with more foil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until ribs are tender.
- Preheat grill to medium-high or set oven broiler to high.
- Remove ribs from foil and brush generously with barbecue sauce. Grill or broil for 5–10 minutes, turning and basting until sauce is caramelized and sticky.
- Let rest for a few minutes, then slice and serve with extra sauce if desired.
Notes
- For smokier flavor, cook the ribs on a grill over indirect heat for the full cooking time.
- Ribs can be cooked a day ahead and finished on the grill before serving.
- Use your favorite barbecue sauce or make your own for a custom touch.
