Scale
- 2 large apples (such as Honeycrisp or Fuji), peeled and sliced into fry-shaped wedges
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Cooking spray
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade, for dipping)
Instructions
- Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs and milk, and one with panko, sugar, and cinnamon mixed together.
- Dredge each apple slice in flour, dip in the egg mixture, then coat with the cinnamon-sugar breadcrumb mix.
- Place coated apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray with cooking spray.
- Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp.
- Warm the caramel sauce slightly before serving for easier dipping.
- Serve apple fries warm with the caramel dip on the side.
Notes
- Use firm apples to maintain structure during cooking.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg to the breadcrumb mix for extra flavor.
- For a lighter version, skip the flour and just dip in egg and breadcrumbs.
- Leftovers are best reheated in the air fryer for a few minutes to regain crispiness.
